Many times, while browsing SEO and webmaster forums I find questions about importance of On-Page and Off-Page SEO and what is more important. People seek for answer in order to optimize their website and business but, not rare, they got wrong and misleading answers.

There are many kind of answers on this question you can find around and they look like next ones:

  • "On-Page SEO weight is just about 20% and Off-Page is 80% in Google algorhytm."
  • "Content is King, On-Page is everything!"
  • "Links are what Google wants, just build links and you will have success!"

All the answers mentioned above are not correct, or we can say, all the answers are correct but all together!

If you find answers like that you can be sure that person answered that:

  • has very little SEO experience
  • found that answers somewhere and share the stuff around

For high and medium competitive niches On-Page SEO has less weight than Off-Page but that does not mean that you should only do link building. Link building without good On-page optimization is like driving a car with handbrake pulled up!

After you have finished your on-page optimization, it is time to begin with off-page SEO (link building) and that's one never-ending job! Even if you reach top positions, you need to continue link building to stay at the top! And, the better the on-page optimization is the less link building you have to do to achieve desired positions.

And after you have finished website, while doing link building, you should always think about on-page content. Fresh and unique content will have much influence on your positions, because Google likes it!

So, there is no percentage in googles algorhytm, there is no on-page or off-page SEO, both are important and to have success in competitive niches you need to do both! You need to work constantly on your content and on your links! If you do that wise by the time you will surely have success!
